Turkey Tail Extract Organic

Trametes versicolor is a polypore mushroom found worldwide growing in clusters on dead logs in deciduous forests. Its wavy shape and layers of striped multi-colors are reminiscent of a turkey’s tail, which the mushroom is aptly named after. Due to its thick and leathery texture, turkey tail is rarely eaten and is typically utilized in teas, broths, tinctures, or capsules.

Turkey tail is the most well studied health promoting mushroom. It is revered for its wellness supporting qualities which may be partly due to the levels of beta glucans that exist within the mushroom. This fungus has a long history of use in traditional Japanese healing methods as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where it is known as yun zhi. In TCM, the mushroom is employed to increase chi, strengthen the lungs, and clear dampness. Additionally, turkey tail mushrooms are used in TCM to support the liver and immune system.* Its first recorded use stems back thousands of years to the Han Dynasty in China. Currently, an increasing amount of scientific research is being conducted into the healthful benefits of turkey tail mushrooms.

Our turkey tail extract is created with organic dried mushrooms, organic alcohol, and distilled water in a double extraction process at our extract facility in Eugene, Oregon. The tincture has a mild mushroom flavor that is somewhat earthy with a slight bitterness. It can be taken in water, juice, or directly on the tongue. It combines well with other mushroom extracts such as chaga, lion’s mane, maitake, or reishi. Turkey tail extract pairs well with teas including echinacea & elder tea or vita-blend tea, among others.

• 8 oz. size comes in an amber glass bottle with a plastic screw cap and does not include a dropper.
