Maitake Extract Organic

Grifola frondosa is a polypore mushroom that grows in clusters at the base of hardwood trees throughout China, northeastern Japan, and eastern North America. Maitake mushroom is revered in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and traditional Japanese herbalism for its wellness supporting properties. The word maitake is directly translated from Japanese as “dancing mushroom”, named in reference to the ancient times when people who found the mushroom could exchange it for its weight in silver, leading to their dancing in celebration.

Maitake mushrooms were traditionally used to support immune system health.* The antioxidant properties of ergothioneine, a water-soluble amino acid contained in Maitake mushrooms, help maintain cell integrity and fight free radicals.*

Our organic maitake extract is made using a double extraction method by our expert team. Maitake tincture has a woodsy aroma and taste which is perfect in a little water or juice, or directly on the tongue. This extract goes well with other mushroom extracts such as lion’s mane extract, chaga extract, or turkey tail extract. Add a bit of maitake tincture to echinacea & elder tea or winter spice tea for an added boost.

• 8 oz. and 16 oz. sizes come in amber glass bottles with a plastic screw cap and do not include a dropper.
• 32 oz. extracts come in plastic bottles with a plastic screw cap.

Studies have shown that Maitake can induce interferon production which may have an effect if you are on a strict interferon prescription.
