A member of the Asparagaceae family, Solomon’s seal is a near relative of the Lily-of-the-Valley. The starchy root has been used for hundreds of years by indigenous cultures in North America to make breads and soups. Its name is inspired by the scar that develops on the rhizome in the fall that resembles the ancient seal of King Solomon.
